ABOUT US

AfroCareCLT is an annual cultural gala & fundraiser based in Charlotte, North Carolina supporting educational initiatives on the continent of Africa.  Our 2023 focus is building the new building for the Akyremade JHS (Middle School), which is in village right outside of Kumasi, Ghana.

Several Charlotte-based organizations have come together to put on this event.  The organizations currently include Afro In CLT, Asanteman Charlotte, Charlotte International Cabinet, Charlotte Sister Cities, Eh’vivi, South Academy of International Language and Work Meaningful Foundation.  We feel it is important to ensure that students have access to quality education and resources to support their growth and development.

In some parts of Ghana, many students struggle to access education due to a lack of resources and infrastructure. They face daily obstacles such as long walks to school, inadequate facilities, and limited resources. Additionally, many students are unable to attend school due to a lack of proper school uniforms.

By donating to our cause, you can help us provide the necessary resources and infrastructure to build a middle school in Ghana. This school will serve as a beacon of hope for children who are eager to learn but are currently unable to do so.

With your support, we can give these children the chance to succeed and achieve their dreams. Every dollar donated brings us one step closer to our goal. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these children and their communities. Join us in our mission to provide education and opportunities for a brighter future.

OUR STORY

David Lynn (Charlotte Sister Cities) invited Justin Jones-Fosu (Work Meaningful Foundation) to help with the event bringing the mayor Kumasi, Ghana to Charlotte on September 19, 2022.  At this meeting Justin was connected to Anthony Atiase (Afro In CLT), Chef Awo and her husband Kevin (Eh’vivi), and Solomon Agyemang (Asanteman Charlotte).  In conversation they decided there was more they could do together than apart to support the continent of Africa.  A seminal meeting was held in the Fall of 2022 and the idea of an annual cultural gala & fundraiser was birthed.

Current and First Initiative:

The Akyremade JHS Middle School Building

We are thrilled to announce that we are in the early stages of building our first
middle school for children in Ghana. This is a significant milestone for our
organization, and we are excited about the impact this school will have on the
lives of students and their communities.

As we begin this journey, we are committed to ensuring that the school provides
a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. We will work closely
with local communities and educational experts to ensure that the school is
equipped with the resources and infrastructure necessary to provide a quality
education.

Building a school from the ground up is a challenging process, but we are
committed to seeing it through. We believe that every child deserves access to
education, and we are excited about the positive impact this school will have on
the lives of students and their families.

Thank you for your support as we embark on this exciting new chapter in our
mission to provide education and opportunities for a brighter future. Together,
we can make a difference in the lives of children in Ghana.
